Music

Great work to our students who performed on Friday at assembly as part of the band. Winter Deoma on the Keyboard, Jacinta Carr at the Guitar, 3 fantastic drummers: Arlo Stuart, Angus Elliott and Matthew Chandler, and special appearance from 3 of our singers: Jorjah Sparrow, Millie Chandler and Tess Stuart.

On Friday 28th November, we will have a very special event with GranPam and PhilPop showing us their latest video, which they recorded with the Busy Buzzy Bees from Room 4!

A snapshot around the school…

ART

Some extremely happy faces. And no one's bowl dropped any biscuits, so in the words of the preps...they are amazing.

More from our Prep room…

Mrs Joyce read a book about Uluru and how the rain changes the landscape of this Wonder of the World. Students drew about the story adding their animal of choice to their landscape and write about it too.

Understanding Country

There was more learning around First Nations Peoples’ culture with the aim to understand Country and connect to it further. Congratulations to our student leaders who taught the whole school about ‘yarning circles’ and how to use a ‘talking stick’. Lewis and Hudson Turner, Ruby and Will Cassidy proudly shared their learning and led the sessions confidently. A huge thank you to Dylan O’Shanassy, our Koorie Educational Support Officer (KESO), who is supporting this journey with our students.

Some other activities included learning about the use and symbol of the gum leaves. Students could smell the eucalyptus and use the leaves to design some artwork. They learnt about clap sticks and how to create rhythm with them. They also learnt about the symbols used in Aboriginal and Torres Islander culture and designed their own design to describe themselves. With their eyes closed, students reflected on a book Mrs Taylor read called Ceremony and wrote how it felt, looked and sounded.

Wednesday Activities

Our last round of Wednesday activities started with the choice to do cooking, walking to the Wetlands, gardening, library, music and singing, hands-on learning, mindfulness, craft activities and Laurina Lodge. Next week, Lawn Bowls will be added.

A big thank you to Rani Darby for running the activity of Mindfulness with our students. They enjoy their first session!
