What happened this week?

Music

At next assembly, we will have one of the bands performing, so do not miss watching them and come join us on Friday from 2:30pm.

On Friday 28th November, we will have a very special event with GranPam and PhilPop showing us their latest video, which they recorded with the Busy Buzzy Bees from Room 4!

REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY

Well done to our school captains and vice-captains for representing our school at the Remembrance Day Ceremony. It was quite a cold and rainy day and we appreciate you and Mrs Jones being there.

We are very proud of you.

LEST WE FORGET

A snapshot around the school…

Room 4 observed more of their growing grass last week, and had fun with colours and corn!

Room 1 used the playdough they made to measure mass as part of their learning.

Wheelchair Basketball

We started the week with Wheelchair basketball. The skills required involve coordination and communication! All our students experienced what people in wheelchair would live every day when trying to move around and it is not easy!

Grade 6 excursion

Each year, we try and organise a special day to celebrate our grade 6 students’ time with us, before they go to the next chapter of their schooling. This year again, we took them to Wollangarra Outdoor Education Centre and Smitho and his crew were fantastic.

After the short walk to the flying fox (with some students getting a wheelbarrow ride), we all flew over the river and enjoyed looking at scenery. At camp, Smitho showed us around and explained how they host school groups for three or more days, camping. Everyone got to feed the sheep, cook and eat some damper and go over or under the fences. Parents, you should know that each child cleaned their own plate! Then we had the pleasure to hear Smitho sing a song and Harry had a go at it too. We had lunch, while listening to a Dr Seuss’s story and then head back to the buses.

The process of the flying fox involves people pulling on the ropes to make the seat move. The girls who helped on the way home showed their muscles so we can say ‘strong like a girl’ from now on!

Thank you to all staff at Wollangarra Outdoor Education Centre for running the activities there. Thank you very much to our staff: Rhonda Stuart, Tara Barclay, Jaimee Jones and Michael Driscoll for accompanying our group. A very big thank you to Nambrok PS and Ann Pritchett for organising the bus for us.

2026 Prep students - Transition Day n.1

We had the pleasure to meet our 2026 prep students for their first Transition Day. They played a little and listen to a story before doing some dancing.

I think everyone was a little nervous at first but they all became much more relaxed quickly.

Tara Barclay and Lacey were very pleased with their morning.

Gippsland Water Awards

Natalie Laugeni, from Gippsland Water visited our school on Friday to present Makayla Southey with her prize after winning the Poster Competition for grade 6s. Natalie also presented us with the cheque of $500 that our school was awarded for entering the competition. We will make sure to purchase items linked to STEM learning.
