What happened this week?

This week in a nutshell…

Lawn Bowls

Thank you to Tony, Toby, Burt, Kerry, Chris, Rod and Barry who took our students for the last four weeks, for lawn bowls’ lessons. All children enjoyed their time and we cannot wait for more sessions at the Heyfield Bowls Club.

ART

Students did Art outside last week. They took the time to listen, to breathe in and look at nature and painted or drew trees.

Police Visit

Our Foundation students had an incursion last Wednesday, with the Heyfield Police officers visiting them to talk about their roles. This was part of the learning our students are doing around who are ‘helpers’ in our community. Even though, VicPol does more than helping, it is a great way to get children aware and accustomed of seeing them as real people and not scary at all. Next will be the Fire brigade and Ambulance!

Remember to bring all orders back or order online by 12th June!

Wednesday Activities

We started our last rotation of activities last week. Students who chose cooking had the chance to bake a chocolate self-saucing pudding and to eat it the next day! I can guarantee you that many of us wished we had participated too! It looked delicious!

Curriculum Day

On Friday, all staff was at school. While teachers were moderating samples of work and discussing students’ learning, teacher aides learnt more about Anaphylaxis and how to administer adrenaline with various devices.

We all finished the day learning more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s history and culture. We used the learning to reflect on how we can include more of the aboriginal perspectives into our curriculum.

It was a productive day, and we were ready to enjoy the long weekend too!
