A snapshot around the school…

Healthy Harrold

Last Tuesday and Wednesday, Harrold, the healthy giraffe visited our school and taught to each grade various concepts abotu being healthy. The Prep students looked at what healthy friendships look like, while grade 1-6 students learnt more about being safe online, and how to be respectful when interacting with others. Kids of all ages always enjoy ‘chatting’ to Harrold, as you can see on the photos! Even grade 6 students.

New Students

Welcome to new students these past two weeks! Eli and Aubrey in room 4!

Reconciliation Week - Learning

While all classroom teachers were looking at learning tasks and moderating, so they can be consistent with their assessments, teaching and reports, all students took part in activities to learn about Reconciliation Week and what reconciling means. In the context of Reconciliation Week, linked to our First Nations people’s story. We learnt more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders’s culture, which included language and stories. We also reflected on stereotypes and how the way people look should not be the only description of their culture. We should not assume and make generalisations. A good analogy in one of the videos explained why it is disrespectful to ask the question: ‘How much Aboriginal blood people have? or ‘What percentage?’: “A cup of coffee could have a little bit of milk, or a lot, it’s still coffee!”
