Week 6 Term 3 2026

This week in a nutshell…

MUSIC
Well done to Rooms 7 and 8 for their performance at assembly. Next week, we will have the chance to hear the whole school again!

Indonesian
Last week, all grades 3/4 and 5/6 students cooked dishes they researched in Indonesian classes and prepared a shopping list for. They had to follow the procedures to cook their dishes and to work collaboratively with their partner. It smelled absolutely beautiful and still does actually!

The children learned to cut, fry, mix and even what some of the ingredients are!

Thank you to Mrs Taylor for organising this each year, it’s definitely a highlight!

Ghana Beat My Drum

This was a hoot with our students! We danced, played the drums and listened to some entertaining stories from the gentleman who made us laugh and wiggle. He kept repeating: “Isn’t that right?”, which was funny and very true!

Learning
Now, don’t think learning is not still happening in classrooms! The displays in the middle area prove that we are learning to expanding our vocabulary to describe the characters in grade 3/4 and investigated 2D and 3D shapes too!

Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Winter and Will S from year 5, Aurora and Ahri from year 6 for their great effort at the Spelling Bee. It was tough! Words like ‘priest’, ‘awkward’, ‘menagerie’ were given and I’m certain some adults in attendance wondered how to spell them too!

Incursions Galore!

On Thursday, school was very busy! We had two ambulance paramedics, Lee and Kylie come talk to the children about the defibrillators around town and how to use them, in the scenario they needed to help someone.

We also had Chris visiting and talking about stranger danger, especially online. He spoke about the laws for eScooter and eBikes. He reminded all students about ringing 000 if needing help.

Having the ambulance and police attend supports our learners in feeling confident they can reach out to members of the community when required. Chris even played netball with some of the grade 5 students and Miss Hass.

The grade 5/6 students had the opportunity to listen and learn about ‘prejudice, discrimination and racism’ during their workshop with Courage To Care volunteers, Phillip Graves and Tony Weldon. They related it to the Holocaust and explained the detrimental impact that discrimination can have, but also the importance of the people who helped by being upstanders. This is beautifully linked to the teaching of social skills, our pledge and our school values.

School Disco

It was very much fun!! Thank you to all parents and staff that helped decorate, organised the food and drinks and stayed afterwards to clean up. You are wonderful!

The students laughed, danced and played some games. We had a few dance-offs too!
