This week in a nutshell…

MUSIC - A message from Mr. Bartlett

We’re offering our old blue drum kit for free to a good home. It’s not much to look at, but it’s in reasonable working order and would be perfect for a budding drummer.

Please contact the school if you’re interested: heyfield.ps@education.vic.gov.au

April’s Fools Day

We had some fun on Wednesday, pranking teachers and each other. In France, you can play pranks all day for April’s Fools, but apparently not in Australia! Students were lucky because otherwise, they would have received an announcement about having to come back earlier to school, due to the increase of petrol prices! Mrs Joyce had even prepared a video to pretend it had been announced on tv! What we also do, is stick paper-made fish on people’s backs, trying to have them not notice. Miss Schmidt and rooms 5 and 6 had a great time doing this and ended up in my office, as you can tell by the photos.

Anyway, the best trick was students going to other rooms to confuse their teachers, and Mrs Jones losing her chair or being locked out a couple of times. Staff also had to answer trivia questions and if they answered wrong, they had to wear or carry funny items. You may have seen this during parent/teacher interviews. Luke Mahony, our student teacher on teaching rounds, was still carrying his little gnome late that night!

All in all, it was a day where we could enjoy some fun, which was a lovely way to end this busy term. Thank you to everyone involved!

Cross Country

What a great day again! The weather was fantastic and even a little too hot, when sitting in the sun, but no one complained. We even had some people dancing to the music.

Thank you to everyone who came and cheered for the runners. It was a great effort by them all. Thank you to all staff for helping to run this event, and to Lachlan Fasoli for organising it. Thank you to the parents who helped on the day and especially Lyndal Smith and her daughter Elsie. We also had the pleasure to have Isla Molphy and Sadie MacManus attend and my son Oscar gave us a hand too. Thank you all!

Thank you to Quick Cuppa for bringing the van so we could enjoy a hot drink. Sheree was most sorry and disappointed the coffee machine didn’t work but hopefully it will be all fixed by the next cross country.

Runners, in grades 3,4,5 and 6 who made the qualifying time will go to the next round in term 2, This will take place at the Wetlands again. We will confirm dates with you soon.

Finally, thank you to the Wetlands Committee for looking after this very special place and allowing us to run our cross country there, each year. It is a beautiful setting and well cared for.
