What happened this week?

This week in a nutshell…

Life Education Van

Healthy Harrold visited our school last week and is coming back this week! Students learn about heathy bodies, minds and friendships when they meet with Harrold. Little or older, they all love seeing the puppet at the end of each session.

Prep Literacy Awards

It is wonderful to see so many of our Foundation students receiving their certificates for reading and practising their words. Great effort!

Congratulations to Ella Davidson who reached 75 nights of reading! Well done to Abel Armstrong for reaching 25 nights! Great effort.

Also a super job to Bodhi for completing his Violet words’ list, to EJ for his Red words and to Rory and Maxton for their Blue words!

Wednesday Activities

It was the last week of rotations this week and our hands-on activities’ group finished their creative work, which will again be placed at the RV park for visitors to take with them, as souvenirs.

The Gift of Kindness group delivered their cards in random letterboxes and we received again many grateful messages from members of the Heyfield community, very pleased with the kind gesture and messages written.

Thank you to all staff who run these sessions. They are invaluable.

Links to the community

As part of their learning about helpers in the community, our Prep students had the opportunity to listen to our town ambulance paramedics about their work and then had much fun getting in the track, on the wheelchair and even on the stretcher! From the faces on the photos, I can tell it was fun, but also a little nerves-wrecking for some!

Bike Ed Challenge

Some of our grades 3-6 students took part in the Bike Ed Challenge on Thursday. This was organised by GippSport and supported by the Wellington Shire. Senior St Michael’s PS students also participated, and all had a positive experience.

The Heyfield PS Big Freeze

It was bigger than expected and it was as great as expected too. Thank you to everyone who attended, to everyone who donated and to everyone who support this cause to FightMND.

A humongous thank you to Megan Stone for organising this event, from the donations to the decorations, the music chosen for each group getting in the pool, the conversations with people in the community and much much more. We would not have had this successful event without your commitment and dedication.

Thank you to the members of the community, staff and students who received the icy water on the day. It was cold!! I know that many more people and students would have loved to participate and we will definitely do it even bigger next year. Thank you to the students, parents and staff who helped setting up and a little shoutout to Lucille (my daughter) and Tash for recording and doing the livestream for us.

$7,573 raised this year, what should we aim for in 2027?
