What happened this week?
Music
We had a surprise visit from GranPam and PhilPop on Friday as they launched there and then their latest video! The Busy Buzzy Bees and all of Room 4 performed for us all and it was quite fun.
A snapshot around the school…
POLICE VISIT
We had the chance to have Senior Constable Leigh Butler and Senior Constable Chris Mutsch visiting our school last Monday. Before looking at the car, Leigh and Chris spoke to our junior students about the concept of stranger danger, about using the crossing and also about the importance of wearing a helmet when riding bikes and scooters.
They also spoke to our senior students about the rules with eBikes and eScooters, explaining the age restrictions and making sure they wear the correct helmet when riding, as it can be fatal. We also touched on walking when passing the shops as near misses have occurred lately with students riding past IGA. Please remind of these rules for everyone’s safety. The other topic was around the new rules about social media and there were some good questions asked. If you wish further information, please check the website of the eSafety Commissioner.
While safety is mentioned, I have been reading more and more about Roblox and it is quite disturbing, even with parental controls in place. I would urge parents to try the game and see for themselves what children’s interactions are experiencing.
Indonesian
As per tradition and to celebrate learning the language of Indonesian, before they start heading to high school, our grade 5/6 students cooked some recipes they researched. The task is to make a list for their recipe, in Indonesian! It can be quite tricky if you forget an ingredient in the shopping list for Mrs Taylor but they all did a super job and the whole building smelt really good!
Thank you to Mrs Taylor for making your lessons engaging and celebrating it in such a pleasant way. Thank you to Mrs Lewis who volunteered her time to help out (was Miss Taylor a couple of weeks ago, but got married since! Congratulations again!)
Wednesday Activities
Due to the rain, we had to make some changes to our Wednesday activities but everyone seemed to be happy with their afternoon anyway! Hopefully next week, we can do Lawn Bowls!
