Kinder Visit
Some of our Heyfield Cubs visited the kindergarten this week, to start the process of transition for our future prep students, but also to familiarise other preschool children with older young people around them, in an educational context. We had four students visiting on Monday and another four visited this morning. Well done to them all and thank you for showing great confidence.
Heyfield’s Got Talent
What a fantastic exhibition of talents we experienced on Wednesday! Well done to everyone who participated. We had over 40 students performing with magic tricks, singing, dancing, telling jokes and a recall of many flags and their countries.
Thank you very much to Miss Schmidt for organising this very entertaining event. Thank you to the Junior School Councillors who gave the idea of a talent show. We cannot wait for the next one!
Congratulations to Deklan Joncevski and Spencer Darby as runners up (4th); Maggie Smith, Lilly Hassouras and Pearl Smith in Third place; Jagger Cassidy, Tommy Johnson and Harrison Lewis for their Second place and to Ayva and Elisha Chapman, Kolbie Willshire, Aubrey Jones and Georgia Phillips for being this year’s winners!
Book Week Dress-up Day
We started the day with the dress-up parade and it was a great display of characters from books and movies. All students enjoyed the parade before the library performance at the town library, while Hudson Turner was doing an interview for ABC Gippsland.
All staff decided to go with the theme of the book “Have you filled a bucket today?” by Carol McCloud. Mr Davidson had a back-up plan with a book on animals, and even his earring matched! Miss Schmidt and Megan led the way with decorating their buckets and outfits.
Thank you all for joining in the fun and making it such a fun day.
The performance at the town library was another entertaining story acted out with the help of students.
Bookmarks Australian Record
We did it!! What a great effort!
This year, Nambrok-Denison PS, Airly PS, Yarram SC, Stratford PS, St Michael’s PS, Cowwarr PS, Gormandale PS have joined us to achieve this record-breaking the for the ‘greatest number of bookmarks created by students’ and enter the TABOR book.
Thank you to Rhonda Stuart and Megan Stone for helping to staple the bookmarks to the tree on Wednesday night! Thank you to everyone involved in making them. Thank you to my friend Robyn Welsh who first initiated this beautiful idea to bring people together. What a nice and fun way to celebrate Book Week.
A huge thank you to Faye Lanyon from The Australian Book Of Record (TABOR) for presenting Shane Fyfe, principal of St Michael’s PS and me the certificate, on behalf of all the schools who contributed.
All students got to pick a bookmark from the tree as memorabilia.
