What happened this week?

This week in a nutshell…

MUSIC - A message from Mr. Bartlett

Well done to Rooms 1 and 2 for their performance today! Next week will be Room 4’s turn. Assembly will start again at 2:20pm.

Writing

All classes are learning to write narratives at the moment, using a scaffolded approach, which gets them to look at sentences dividing the words in categories. They are learning about grammar and sentence structures in context and aim to uplevel the vocabulary. Room 8 students worked on a sentence last week related to ANZAC Day and the topic of war.

You can read a couple of examples below and witness for yourself the creative writing skills they are developing, one paragraph at a time.

High Jump

Grade 3/4 students have started practising for the Athletics Day they will compete in, in Term 3. High Jump is one of the events.

PMP

This week again, our Foundation students continued their Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) sessions. PMP is a fun and engaging program that helps develop students’ coordination, balance, and motor skills, which are important for both physical development and learning in the classroom.

Students focused on practising under-arm throwing and catching. They enjoyed working on controlling their movements, aiming at targets, and catching objects using two hands. These activities help build hand-eye coordination, concentration, and confidence.

We look forward to continuing PMP each week and developing these important skills in a fun and supportive environment!

Literacy Awards

Some of our Prep students received certificates for completing their ‘word lists’. Ella Davidson for her Green word list, Finn Bradley for his Blue word list, and Amelia Tobin for her Red word list.

Good work to Aria Lewis, Rory Bean, EJ Maynard and Ava Stanley for achieving 25 nights of reading!

Citizenship Ceremony

On Wednesday, we had the privilege to witness Kobe Cook and his mother Torika being presented with their citizenship certificates. The 5/6 students and staff were very excited for Kobe and we thank him for accepting we attend.

Congratulations and well done.

Au Revoir Luke!

Luke Mahony has completed his university placement with us, in Room 5. Thank you for choosing our school and thank you to Miss Schmidt for being a fantastic mentor.

We cannot wait to see Luke back at school, when he is fully qualified!
