What happened this week?

This week in a nutshell…

MUSIC - A message from Mr. Bartlett

Rooms 1 and 2 will be performing next week at assembly, and Room 4 the week after. Assemblies will start at 2:20pm.

Maths

Room 8 students started Term 2 learning more about Multiplication and Division. They are learning about unpacking numbers as a strategy to solve 2-digit numbers multiplications. For example, 23 × 12 is the same as looking 23 = 20 + 3, which is also 10 + 10 + 3! The last step is to multiply 12 by 10 (twice), and 12 by 3. You might think it would be easier to solve it with the ‘recipe’ of the vertical multiplication, however with this latter method, they connect place value and multiplication and can explain using mathematical language their thinking when solving it. 120 +120 + 36!

Playtime

It’s like we never left! All students were very busy this past week during recess and lunch and it is great to witness. The weather has been beautiful and everyone is enjoying it.

Physical Activity

While our 3/4 students were practising triple jump, students from the Prep room did PMP. This program is all about movement linked to sensory perception. It is very beneficial for our students and they enjoy the exercise too!

Literacy Awards

Some of our Prep students received certificates for completing their ‘Gold word list’ or achieving 25 nights of reading! Well done to Finn Bradley for completing 50 nights already! Keep up the good work Finn!

Special congratulations to Ahri from Room 8 who completed 75 nights!! Way to go!

ANZAC Day

Thank you to everyone who attended today’s ceremony and marched with us. Well done to one of our past School Captains, Elsie Smith who led us during the march, representing Maffra Secondary College. Congratulations to our School Captains who did a great job representing our school when laying the wreath.

You can all be very proud of our students who showed great respect during this special event.

Lest We Forget.
